Deadline approaching for scholarship applications

Dr. Lindsay Sale-Tinney was an accomplished angler, photographer, writer, magazine editor and businesswoman. From the moment Lindsay joined this world, her life was a celebration. Her adventurous spirit touched lives not only here but in her travels abroad. It is in that same spirit that we honor Lindsay with this scholarship in her name.

Each year, the Outdoor Journalist Education Foundation of America (OJEFA), the educational arm of the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA), seeks candidates for our annual Lindsay Sale-Tinney SEOPA Conference Scholarship award. The award provides one aspiring young writer or photographer between the ages of 12 to 25 with the opportunity to attend the Annual SEOPA Fall Conference.

This is a tremendous opportunity for young outdoor media hopefuls to be able to not only attend the conference, numerous workshops and other learning opportunities but also to meet and network with some of the most notable outdoor communicators in the nation. SEOPA brings together some of the biggest names in outdoor writing, photography, radio and TV broadcasting. There is no way to assign a dollar value to this extraordinary opportunity and the long-term benefits thereof.

Wade “WC” Hodges accepts the 2016 Lindsay Sale-Tinney Award from legendary angler Stu Tinney at the 2016 SEOPA Conference in Lakeland, Fla.

One winner is selected from applications received by July 1, with the winner announced on or before July 15. The lucky winner will receive one free conference registration, four nights lodging, and up to $750 toward travel expenses.

We need your help to get the word out to anyone who would qualify and benefit from this one-of-a-kind career-building opportunity. Please forward this to potential applicants or others who might help spread the word. Click here for more about the Lindsay Sale-Tinney award and click here for the application.

Thank you for your time and help with this very important endeavor to encourage and support our next generation of outdoor communicators.

OJEFA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and support of outdoor journalists and their efforts to promote the wise and ethical use of our wildlife and natural resources.
